After reading on here that the best upgrade on a budget is wheels . Well ive just got some Askiums and really struggled to get some Spesh Armadillo All Coinditions on with innertubes and one has just blown up . Are these meant to be tubeless ? What are clinchers ? Sorry for being such a nobber !

Aksiums are clinchers. Have you put your rim tape on?

Did you pinch the innertube when you put the tyre on? It's easy done. You do mean the inner blew and not the tyre right?

That is weird.
Was the tyre seating on the rim properly? Especially by the valve.
Did you pump it up to the tyres recommended pressure?

Also squidge the tyre all around the diameter while it only has a few psi in it before pumping to pressure, as it helps to make sure there are no pinched bits of tube.

I can almost hear that bang now! Not that I have ever done it myself, obviously

I assume it was Ianrauk , the rear wheel seems fine and i pumped them up with my new track pump so im guessing i just pinched it as they were tough to get on . Will talc them Fossyant . Was just after confirmation that they took innertubes so will try again . Cheers guy's !

I've got Mavic Aksiums. They are a tight fit with Michelin Krylions so its not just you. Some rims are tougher to fit tyres to than others - Aksiums maybe are one of the more difficult ones. The inside is smooth - I don't use rim tape but haven't had any problems as a result.

Sounds like you just pinched the inner tube when you put the tyre on. It does go with a bit of a bang, doesn't it?! As 2Loose says, squeeze the tyre all round the circumference to help it seat properly, then pump it up.

Got a couple of new innertubes today and fitting complete , so far so good . And by the way i know the Askiums are entry level and ive changed the tyres from 32s to 28s but there is a difference so spot on to everyone who has said that wheels on a budget upgrade is the way to go .

Agree with you, I have found the transition to Askiums to make me feel faster. The material weight saving was about 0.5kilos from my old wheels so it is probably noticeable. TBH I just prefer the look of my bike with these new hoops over the stock trek ones.
