Any reason why you're thinking of buying a ten year old set of wheels? They'll be heavy to the point you won't feel much of an aero advantage. I looked at getting a pair that were about 4 years old a while ago but in the end decided they wouldn't be worth it.

I'm not aware of any specific issues to those wheels beyond the usual advice when buying wheels - are they true, have they ever been in a crash, what state are the hub and bearings in?

If you don't know the history, don't pay too much. I have a lovely set of HED Jets, about 15 years old, same construction - i.e. the carbon is not structural. Watch brake surface wear. Pick wheels up and spin them - hold both ends of axel in fingers - if dead smooth that's good. Check true as well.

I've kept my wheels as they were TT only, and tubular, so only saw TT's where braking was minimal. I might build a TT bike again one day. The old HED Jets had Hope Titanium hubs
