Hi
Just need advice on a couple of things.

1. I have to go to a conference and due to location in the City Centre I shall cycle.
I need though to obviously Suit up when I get there (It's at a Hotel).
How best to carry my suit and is it rude to phone the hotel and enquire about washroom facilities/storage of my cycling gear.

2. The location is a Hotel near New Street - Where best to park the bike ?

I hope it's not raining !!

No idea about transporting the clobber, but I don't see why there'd be a problem ringing up the hotel. If it's even remotely reasonably, they'll certainly have somewhere to store your gear. They might have somewhere you can park the bike too.

Think some careful folding is needed - it's only a 3 mile journey and 2 miles are flat and 1 mile downhill !
Maybe the place will have ironing facilities or something.
The course providers did send out a Carbon footprint questionairre on how people were getting there so I would have thought that they had asked on facilities at the hotel.

Think I will E mail the Hotel.

Can't you just take a slow cycle wearing your suit? Or just change into your suit trousers when you get there. I rolled mine up in my work bag this morning and and they've come out crease free. Personally I wouldn't need a shower after just three miles either.

What about the bus....? Admittedly it does involve giving money to National Travel West Express Midlands or whatever they're branded this week.

Have E mailed them

3 mile walk ?!
6 mile total !

I couldn't walk that far.

Unless you have a specific health or mobility problem (in which case, apologies and ignore me), I bet you could. My 73 year old Mum walks that far into the city centre where she lives, fairly regularly. I did about 3 miles round the York city walls on Sunday, in just under an hour, and that includes a lot of up and down steps.... Bear in mind, you get a nice rest in your meeting after the first 3miles...

Of course, how nice it would be depends on the route.

But cycling in your suit should be do able, and frankly, with a litle care in folding, I wouldn't expect a suit to get too creased just rolled up and put in a pannier. Mind you, I never have to wear a suit, so I may be wrong.

I'd rather do the walk than the Bus !!

Bugger it it's an easy ride there so I will fold said posh clothes up, into my bag and pedal off into the world of IT !

Technically Centro do own Metro line one, but its operated under concession by Altram / Travel Midland Metro.

I also recently had an argument in a meeting with a woman from Centro who insisted that they own the Metro.

Hotels - never had a problem with storing my bike at a hotel. Indeed I've found the vast majority of hotels have a staff that is very helpful about bike storage - garage/porter's store/basement etc.

Never done cycling to an important meeting as us GIRLS do not need a helmet head!!!

I keep a little travel hairdryer and straighteners and a bit of slap at work for when I've got important stuff on. Working away or on a course, I just perch in the hotel the night before (usually far away anyway).

I'm sure the hotel will help you out - but I'd walk, if the weather is ok.
