Hi all

I'm off to Menorca in September and fancy doing some cycling with the family. We are staying in Punta Prima.

Anyone have any experience of cycling in Menorca?

Also, i'm not finding any obvious cycle hire places in Punta Prima. Would need a couple of bikes and a child seat/trailer for our 1 year old.

Any info from someone who's been there and done it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

Someone please reply to this - I am interested too! Have holidayed in Menorca and it is so beautiful, and, more importantly, more than just bike friendly - many pro teams train there and training camps are very popular too.

Chap I rode with a few weeks back had a Sir Bradley Wiggins encounter there in the spring.

Rode there on holiday last year, stayed in Arenal, cycled a few routes along the coast (Fornells and Ciutadella) and inland to Mercadal so I could go up El Toro (3.8k at 8% ave.) it's tough climb with a couple of really steep sections but worth it and there were STACKS of other cyclists in the cafe at the monastery on top when I was there.
It's bike friendly and the island is small so you can get pretty much anywhere on it with a bike, the majority of places seem to rent out mountain bikes rather than roadies but I managed to get a hybrid from a place in Son Parc but the cycle club I bumped into in Mercadal had hired from http://www.bikemenorca.com/cms/index.php and got them to deliver so might be worth a try.
They have a big sportive weekend on the island in october so you might get some route ideas from them http://menorcacicloturista.com/en/vuelta-a-menorca/
