I'm finding Barretine doesn't have the kick of the B & Q. Then again, Langlow's mineralised could be the one, as I find it has a gamey, but slightly astringent aftertaste. Am I alone in thinking this ?

4 star. Has to be unleaded of course. Esso has a fine bouquet whereas BP has plenty of body. The supermarket brands are as you'd expect.

Watch out for the anti-freezes, especially German ones: it has been reported some producers are adulterating it with wine.

Any and all of the above would be preferable to the drink I was offered earlier....

I was almost too polite to refuse, but at the end of the day, I still have some standards, and I wouldn't use Bells Whisky to clean my chain, never mind drink it.

There are times when a slap-in-the-face whisky is exactly what you need. Once it's woken you up you can go onto the better stuff.

I like the aftertaste of Brasso personally, the silver cleaner, not the brass version, I do have standards. Mixed with a little Kiwi black shoe polish, it finishes a meal off lovely. Sort of a post meal liqueur.
