Well after all, we are the only species that actively seeks out and drinks milk after weaning!
And only some of us.
It's only people from culture with a long standing tradition of dairy farming that drink milk much - Northern European, Masai, Mongols etc. There's a genetic mutation that allows the digestion of lactose after infancy. The rest of the world don't digest it well after about 4 or 5, and as a consequence don't use milk as milk much. Instead it gets processed into cheese or yoghurt and such.

For sure yes. I know when I cut down drastically on milk consumption I lost weight. The same thing happened when I reduced starch intake. I could go on about 'Hunter-Gatherers', but I mustn't hijack the thread!

Milk is an excellent recovery drink after a tough day's ride. I only buy UHT anyway (in France that's what you get) and it tastes fine to me.

The Mediterranean view is, of course, that milk is only for children or the sick. You coulkd drink alot of juice instead. I drink my tea black, and on tour I do the same with my coffee (I make fresh filter coffee rather than horrible Nescafe).

A cafe con leche and a tostada is a standard breakfast throughout Spain. Cappuccino and croissant ('brioche' or cornetto') in Italy. Breakfast cereals are available in all supermarkets in both countries but I suspect they are still only eaten by a minority.

I like muesli mixed up with powdered milk (and water of course). It doesn't heat up very well but should be fine cold.
