I've only ever topped-up from a supermarket.
Anyone ever done a top-up from a cash-machine?
Do you have to enter your mobile phone number from the keypad on the machine or what?

Kindest Regards

Yup, it's easy. You press the button for that option, select the network, and how much and it asks for your number, then again to confirm. Goes through pretty much straight away in my experience.

A really useful thing is that you can get someone else to top up your phone, as long as they have your number - I've done that when I couldn't go out, or was abroad.

I always top up this way now.

I want a mobile that dispenses tiny banknotes. That we be cool. If pretty useless. Unless I was going to visit my friends the leprechauns.

You have to know which network the other person's phone is on, too. I got caught out that way once, knew the number but not the network. However I managed to get there by trial and error: at least the machine told me that I'd picked the wrong network, it didn't just 'take the money and run'...

I believe it's quite straightforward to top up from credit/debit card when abroad, if you know the right service number. But I usually set out with plenty of credit on the phone, so the need doesn't arise.

Its my normal way to top up the phone ... I don't know how to do it via the supermarket itself:blush:. You also have to type the number twice, to make sure you have typed the correct phone number in.

Well, I would try to set out prepared, but last time I was in France for two weeks, I ended up sending more texts than I expected. Good point about knowing the network too.
