Hmmm, an alternative to the likes of D&F Models.

Anyway DON'T DO IT!!

I got hopelessly addicted to 1:200 Diecast aircraft models, and several thousand pounds later, what do I have??

Yep, a bedroom that would make any 10 year old boy proud!

All/most will be disposed of through Ebay very shortly, so get yer chequebook and pen ready! :becool:

Yes, ESPECIALLY my Smallworld Iraqi '747 and the VR-HOT.

im not normally into stuff like this but when its so handy, the 10yo in me gets excited ive never collected anything. This makes up for beatties shutting all those years ago. (where I enjoyed window shopping as a child). I used to get my airfix stuff from wonderland on lothian road in edinburgh.

On the plus side I have a 10 month old son I know he wants IT ALL.

bet you will regret selling it.

However giving it away to a local cyclist might not be as regrettable, good home and all that

that's what makes it so dangerous! ....although I bought most of my stuff by mail order.

Oh yes Beatties was IMMENSE and was sorely missed by me as they used to sell off the likes of Lima models (trains) cheaply.

On the plus side I have a 10 month old son I know he wants IT ALL.

All I have is a 3 legged, 7 year old dog, so not much danger there unless they start selling dog biscuits!

Nah, I've been there, done that, and quite frankly, I need the money.
It was nice, don't get me wrong, but I need to move on. That said, I might keep a handful such as some of the Hogan Concordes, especially the one in the Original Air France livery (quite rare that one is!) ...Oh yes and certainly the Inflight 200 Equtoriana Jungle SunBird '707! (a rare, and VERY colourful South American beauty which I got for an absolute bargain at a model show ...oh wait, I can EASILY make a profit on that, hmmm, what to do what to do!!).

I was always more interested in the models, the international aspect and all of the liveries than I was the actual aircraft.

You'd probably baulk at the cost of some of them!!

I'll let you know when I start selling them.

A LOT of the collectors are in the U.S. and Canada, but also the likes of Australia and Asia, so quite a lot of business is trully international, just like the liveries the models depict.
I sold a model to a collector in Idaho last week for example.

When someone gets a custom from them, they also make a handful of others that anyone can buy from Aviation Retail Direct in London. That's how I got mine, I most certainly didn't wait, that's for sure!

Models ..please don't say models, my attic is stuffed full with them (they make great insulation) I also built a dedicated Model room too (click to enlarge pictures).

After 30 odd years of doing model shows you build up a decent collection of kits    But I haven't touched a model in about two years now, well not since my granddaughters came along and stole my time    I think this was the last one that almost got  finished (I say almost as it's still in the same state I left it)

My wife was a model widow for years, Now a cycling widow this time

Funnily enough I was in Model Zone in the Metro Centre yesterday, as my twelve year old son is into building model aircraft. The problem is that I spend more time on building them than him, and it's blooming time consuming!!
We also have a Hobby Craft near to home so that's handy for kits and paints as well.
