It might also let Julia Bradbury do an update on her Railway Walks episode featuring that old line.

That was the one where she interviewed her dad, because they had lived nearby and he had taught her to catch trout with her hands. He explained that you had to tickle them gently underneath and not mind that they were slippery, adding that the same technique worked on her mum.

I'm not sure which surprised me most, the Beeb leaving it in or the look on Julia's face.

Yes, we were all celebrating here a good while back (October?) when it was announced. There was a pot of money announced in the spring/summer for bike projects in the Peaks and thats what they selected . Other less glamorous trails are getting dosh at the moment too.

There was talk of lighting being installed (I would expect it for £3.785m) although I'm not sure what type. I seem to remember reading somewhere that a tunnel near bath (part of the 'two tunnels greenway' project) was going to get motion activated LED lighting which would be intresting to see.
Staple hill tunnel and ashboune tunnel use conventinal SOX lighting which gives out a monochromic light. Oxendon and kelmarsh tunnels on the brampton valley way have no fixed lighting whatsoever which makes for an intresting expirience, in daylight, even with a HID headlight I found it arkward to see, possibly due to the light from the other end affecting my pupil size.

The cycling contingent of that money is just over a million quid. It was originally to provide better cycle links to the Peaks and then the money was commandeered.
