More daft cycle lanes

I almost typed that I cycled on that last Saturday, but in fact I stayed on the road. Previously I've been on it, and got very confused, which is why I decided to stick to the road!

The sad thing here is that I think I understand what the planner was trying to do. It's just that it is so hopelessly wrong.

I agree - to be fair to the planner, there does seem to be some logic to it. It's just pretty damned dangerous.

Would maybe have to look at the whole plan of the area, to understand why the oncoming cycle lane was there in the first place.

Where is it exactly?

It looks positivley barking.(Not Barking as in near Dagenham;))

It's Tavistock Place - just south of Euston Road. I sometimes use that route when heading back to St. Pancras, but it's all a bit daft as somewhere near there, there's a bit where the cycle lane ends up with a red light, but the road still has a green.

To me it looks like they had this one way road they wanted to allow cyclists to have a contraflow on. Cyclist traffic going in the same direction of the other road users should be subjected to the control of the lights at the far end and therefore needed to rejoin the main carriageway.
