I prefer my 4am commutes if I can get them which is harder now as my regular changeover man has retired. He generally did my 9am's.

When I'm on my early shift I leave around 6am it's normally a nice ride but around 3pm the school kids are out and there seems more "Knobs" then.

I find my commute more pleasant very early in the morning (by that I mean between 5am and 6am), although even then you have to keep your eyes open and be ready for a close encounter with a kn0b. London's full of them, no matter what time you choose to cycle.

I agree completely and that's why the summer, with its early sunrise, is so great. If I can manage a trip down to Richmond Park for some early morning laps it is a real joy. Traffic is always noticably worse, however, upon leaving the park and heading to work.

I think the knob ratio goes up as the morning wears on - and is far greater in the evening
