Not cycling but:

The most beautiful sound I have ever heard was when standing outside my burning flat in agony with burnt hands (thankfully superficial) and I could hear the two tones of the fire service getting nearer.

I like the steady "chop, chop, chop" sound of the wind turbines when I'm out cycling or walking the dog. Get nearer to summer and you'll hear the skylarks nesting in the fields around them. Pure emotive joy.

I'm sure I posted this once before but I was out on the bike a little over a year ago. My mate and I stopped in a forest clearing and all was silent save for the flapping a the wings of a bird. It sent shivers down my spine.

Went out for a long walk with the dog yesterday, and sure enough you could hear the larks trilling away over the fields. Absolute pleasure with the sun on my back as I'm off with a chest infection at the moment. However, one of teh wind turbines has what appears to be a gearbox or bearing thing going, so it's squeaking away making a bit of a racket!

Here for rides.
Since this is in the mtb forum I'll post an mtb related answer

the noise the rushing air makes in your ears when you hit more than 40mph going downhill on a mountain side above Les Gets.

I get that when I hear an Oystercatcher calling out of the silence in the middle of the night

Peepeepeepeepeepeepeepeepeepeep!!

it makes me know that there IS still life out on those pitch dark mudflats after all.
Such a humble and unglamourous bird the Oystercatcher, but I like them.

On a similar vein, a sound which really gave me the willies (not litteraly) was the sound of the fog horn at Ardnamurchan point one night about 15 ago.
We were staying in nearby Sana and one of our family friends who we were staying with had just had a heart attack and had to be taken to Fort William by Ambulance because the weather was too bad for a hellicopter.

We had to wait as the ambulance came from Fort William about 50 miles away, going along winding little roads, pick him up and take him away in a round trip of several hours, and then go to bed, racked with worry and all with the mournful wail of the foghorn going in the background. It isn't something I'll forget in a hurry!

Anyway, good bike related sounds?? why, the hum and buzz of tyres at speed of course!
