Rather unfortuantely the front wheel on my OH's mtb died at the weekend when his intergral brake pads wore out rather suddenly during a descent. the result is that there is an deep gouge out of the front rim that pretty much leaves neither of us wanting to trust it any more especially give me plan to go off road in Scotland next month and also want to do the red route at Wolftrax, Laggan. the gouge is around 1mm deep and has the rim close to failing...
So I am looking for a mtb wheel to replace this one. 32 spokes is fine, any hub will do provided it is sound. I don't really have the confidence to take the old hub over to a new rim so am looking at wheel (I can retrue wheels just not built one before) - don't mind what valve type. his is the only bike with schrader valves so it is no issue if it is a presta valve (I have more spare inner tubes in presta than scrader and pump has to do both!) Any colour is fine etc. What else - needs to be V-brake compatible. I have this as an option http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k733/a91599/deore-mavic-xm-317-frontwheel-26-black.html if it comes to it... was hoping not to spend quite so much money - replacing all the intergal brake pads for cartridge style pads has already set me back £20 (bought as part of a brake upgrade) and the bike is not worth a huge amount (its a 2006/7 American version Specialized Rockhopper which we paid £100 for secondhand) plus I need to check the pads on my 2ndhand mtb before we go...
We can collect in the Cheshire/Staffordshire/Lancashire + Bristol area - have family over in Stoke-On-Trent, Oldham, Hebdon Bridge and Bristol which we have to visit before our holiday, so all these areas are options and we live not far from Warrington where my OH works (when he is actually in the office that is!). Only issue is that I have no transport other than a bike during the week...
