Mtb mudguard and pannier.....or one without the other

Ive got a mtb ....just bought a rear pannier.....does that mean I have to use the bottom of the pannier as the mudguard. Or do I put the mudguard under the rack..... or am I just a retard for thinking this......

Mudguard under the rack, protects components too. Assume you bought the rack to go with the pannier

I have just done it last week: Only problem you may find if you have V brakes is that the rubber buffer may rub on the mudguards. Fortunately on this bike it doesn't.

Ahh I havent got that type of mudguard ive got a white sticky outy one from the seatpost, not around the wheel

Those are rubbish and look pants, get proper ones as above. Otherwise, just use the rack but your panniers will get dirty

I tied a piece of plastic under my rack to act as a mudguard when panniers not on.
