Hey guys, I've decided to go clipless on my Boardman CX (this won't end well!) and am looking for some cheapish shoes to go with the A530 pedals that I've got on order. I'm UK size 13 which makes it a bit difficult so I'm looking for comfort over race pace. I've seen the Shimano XC30 and M088 shoes - what's the difference? Would there be any better touring shoes in the same bracket since I'll be on road? Cheers in advance.

Here for rides.
M088 are for wider, higher larger volume feet, i.e. one Europeans have, versus the narrower. lower, smaller volume feet that shoes made on an Asian last are designed for. Shimano shoes used to be too narrow for a lot of folk so they introduced the wider ones. imo the M088 have a better top closer mechanism, ratchet over velcro.

Touring vs mtb usually same shoe essentially with a smoother sole in touring mode. Not much in it.

Make sure you try them on before you buy them.
