Common sense alert, Common sense alert, must call common sense police and have this man taken into custody!!

Seen a similar item on the web using a fairy liquid bottle. My SKS 'guards have a spray guard similar to this, wouldn't be without it.
A work colleague had a Trek hybrid as his commuter with 3/4 'guards and his front mech seized solid after 18 months commuting. He now has a Merida 'cross bike with full-length SKS Chromplastic 'guards.

I've got full-length SKS guards on my bike, but there's no mud flap and frankly I'm fed up with my bottom bracket area looking identical (or worse) than the picture in the original post.

Reckon I'll need to effect a similar modification soon

I've done the same thing with a Domestos bottle as it was blue and matched the bike....

Drilled a couple of holes in the front mudguard and bolted it on- you need to use washers as otherwise the bolts just tear through the plastic. It has survived a couple of winters now with no problems.

How was the plastic fastened to the guard Ross K?

My guards are the narrow version SKS. There's about 30mm of mudguard length below the stainless steel plate at the bottom end. I fastened the flap to this with two pre-shortened galvanised M4 bolts and flat nuts (the latter to minimise toe overlap problems) after drilling the mudguard and flap. Stainless steel would be better but, hey, it's my winter bike, if the sawn-off bolt rusts then no worries.

If you make one of the drilled holes in the flap a bit bigger (6mm) and use a washer you can get some left-right adjustment before tightening, to get it properly aligned.

The end of the flap that goes into the mudguard end is tapered down to the same width as the flat part of the SKS mudguard. This width will obviously depend on what width of guards you have.

Ah, I thought drills and power tools maybe involved... I better find a grown up.
