Where would you go on limited budget, carrying tent etc? Not particularly bothered about mileage and just fancy getting away from it all for a few days.

if you wild camp you'll spend very little and no midges now. If so I'd avoid Isla, harder to wild camp there and it is more farmland there iirc. All the others are easy to wild camp on.

On Jura you can camp outside the hotel for free on the field and use the facilities (they have a pub and shop). Just make a donation in the honesty box. You could use that as a base and cycle the east side of the island.

That would mean going via Isla but then paying for a campsite about £8 open tull end of october would be ok to pay for.

go to altanabreac railway station and cycle through to forsinard. done it myself and your guaranteed to see as few people as possible. Or go up to the north west coast around achmelvich, cheap, great scenery, isolated.

I cycle toured in Mull three weeks ago and would highly recommend it. Have not been to any of the others you mentioned though. Plenty of wild camping options, including one not-so-wild in Calgary Bay.

Its proximity to Oban and the frequent ferry services makes it very easy to get to. I did pretty much a loop around from Craignure to Fionnphort, and back round Loch Na Keal on to Tobermory. The campsite in Fionnphort is nice if weather is not too wild - otherwise it is very exposed to the wind. The road to Fionnphort can get quite busy with tourist buses on day trips from Oban, but the rest is very, very quiet. The scenery is just about the best I've seen. I have yet to write the full report, but for now here are a few pictures.

Very nice set of pictures. I did not get a chance to see Iona as missed the last crossing of the day, but looking at your pictures, I will make sure I do stay at least overnight on my next visit!

Lovely shots, looks like the weather was kind to you.

Thanks for sharing.
