I heard this on the radio today.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...jailed-life-murder-michael-mullins-manchester

About time the CPS grew a pair and charged someone with murder rather than causing death by dangerous driving and well done to the judge for giving a sentence that reflects the seriousness of the crime. If only his previous motoring offences had been dealt with properly perhaps his victim would still be alive.

My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Simply changing the law to automatically prevent road killers ever driving again would be a small start.

Well done to the driver's cousin who was a passenger in the car at the time of the murder. She did the right thing and spoke out against him, providing evidence which was vital in proving that this was indeed murder. If it hadn't have been for her evidence, he would probably have been convicted of a much less serious charge like causing death by dangerous driving, and a much shorter sentence. As it is, hopefully this poor excuse of a human being will die before being released from prison, and therefore won't have the chance to drive again, ever.

Yes, well done to the passenger, but I'd hope that if I'd been that passenger I'd have got out of the car at the first opportunity (the reports I read mentioned that he'd stopped twice & tried to pull the victim out from underneath) and called the emergency services.

I'd also hope that if I knew that a driver had a number of previous convictions as he did I wouldn't get in the car with them in the first place.

When you look at this mans driving record. It makes you wonder why you have to wait for a death before the law issues a life driving ban. He was never going to stop and a death by dangerous driving was always on the cards. It is not only Mr Mullins family I feel sorry for. The passenger in the car will carry this for the rest of their life.
