Musicians you hate now but didn't when you first heard them

Ok, going on from the thread

'Musicians you like now but didn't realise you did for years'

How about the opposite, the music you loved but have grown to hate.

Did you ever go to any gigs only for you now to put your head in your hands and wonder what on earth you were thinking?? Did you buy all their albums and wonder why you even bothered?? Etc etc.

I'll start with an easy one - I used to quite like Coldplay (know I know), but then I moved on.....

My impeccable catholic taste in music is unchanged and no performers have been discarded in my advancing years. Every LP, CD and MP3 track in my possession is treasured.

If the question was 'How many musicians/bands from your younger days can no longer 'cut the mustard' as a live performer then I'd be able to say:

Uriah Heep
Richie Blackmore
Ian Anderson
Joan Armatrading

It was when I had copied the thread title from the other thread over and it was all the same as a result. I couldn't be bothered changing it, but, I have now!

My impeccable catholic taste in music is unchanged and no performers have been discarded in my advancing years. Every LP, CD and MP3 track in my possession is treasured.

Because of my background (explained in the other thread), almost all of my music is from iTunes, so I can just ignore things I no longer like, but yes, I wouldn't delete it. It'd be a waste of 79p for a start!!

When I was at primary school, Gary Glitter was all the rage, the kids loved him and he loved....
I was one of the few Glitterphobes at the time. I thought he was a bit creepy and his whole image was one of gang-related idiocy.
My opinions haven't shifted much from when I was 11, but it is really hard to re-assess his musical contribution, we just never hear it anymore.

I really liked the early stuff from The Police like Walking on the Moon. Mr Sting went seriously downhill when he didn't have the rest of the band to restrain him. Now he's a major gear-grinder.

I used to listen to Genesis a lot back in the day, but haven't for years. T'other day I picked out one of their albums - Foxtrot - and while 'hate' is too strong a word, I really couldn't see what I once saw in it. I just got bored.

I did realise it was all crap at the time but I thought it was funny crap, but now I realise that it was funny in a very unamusing sense of the word ...

I often bought LPs in the late 70s early 80s for just one song, some albums grew on me and some didn't, Lou Reed being a good example.
Strangely I never could stand 'the Police' but some of the stuff Sting did later sounds really good, 'Moon Over Bourbon St' is a great song as is 'We Work The Black Seam' and 'Sooner Or Later' but as for him groaning through 'Roxanne'.

I loved The Police but Sting on his own just doesn't do it for me. On the other hand, I love Phil Collins music but Genesis doesn't do anything for me.

If there was a thread "music that you love but hate the performers" then I'd have Elton John, Tina Turner and Robbie Williams.

I'm sure other people would feel quite the opposite but that makes it interesting.... the world would be such a boring place if everyone had the same taste in everything

Goldfrapp. Their debut album Felt Mountain was very nice, but everything since might as well be by a completely different band, and leaves me uninterested.
