Bit similar to Jan 09 though...

I can't work it out - either it is an integrated bike/bus system, as trusty suggests, or it's a shelter for cyclists to sit in and eat their picnics. There is at least, on the far end, a bin for any food wrappers.

I can see their thinking. Osbaldwick Link road (just next to B and Q) is such a picturesque spot for a picnic. Beats the Wolds, or Dales, for views any day....

The cycle path was there before the bus shelter, as is often the case with these things. Still amusing though.

In York today. And i lie not the people of York and beyond were entertained by musical Red Indians.

With war bonnets and all.
And very very good they were too.

Not a bus lane in sight.

Ah, now - were they Red Indians, or the Peruvian chaps with pan pipes? They do have some glorious feathered outfits.... And much nicer to listen to than the woman who warbles operatically at high volume...

Now that is a good question. But i could not see clearly, due to the upturned wagons and Ward Bond,John Wayne,The Lone Ranger ,James Stewart and some bloke singing,

"Do not forsake me oh my darlin'".
So i bow to your expert knowledge.

Should it make a difference? People tend not to build whopping great structures on roads

If they want people to stop using cars they should stop making it so difficult to do anything else. Where I live many of the pavements are half overgrown and trees and bushed are sometimes so thick you're forced to go onto the road to get past them.

The government has prioritised cars above all else for so long that we've now got a completely unbalanced transport system.
