My Favourite Kind OF RLJ'er!

I reckon on every 30 minute commute through the city I see at least one car RLJ. It's so common as to have become unremarkable. Mrs B still finds it amazing when she sees someone do it.

It was more the speed that they went through them at that got me.

Well, they wouldn't want to miss the red light! ;)

Actually reminds me of a ped who did the same thing to me yesterday. Ped crossing with traffic light on red. I'm at the front of the queue and stop. Bus coming the other way also stops. Peds finish crossing. Our light changes to green. Bus and I start to move off. Suddenly, a ped who had been strolling leisurely up to the crossing decides he's going to to leg it across in front of me and the bus - his light on red, ours on green!

Bus driver did very well to miss him. Stepped on his brakes and really let go with the horn.

Now I wonder where they learnt that from?

Fair enough, it's wrong and illegal, but you see this all the time. It doesn't make it better, but i can certainly admit to having done the same on a number of occasions (v. late amber gambler, not necessarily the speed).

Still, I don't think it's as unsafe as doing the same at a three or four way junction, I'm not shocked by this at all, but would feel a little different if it was at a busy crossroads...

Wrong yes. Illegal no, not in this instance - temporary traffic lights.

I think you'll find that's not true, according to someone in another thread... The law has been updated, I think.

Anyway, I bet the driver din't think "oh, these are only temporary lights, therefore they are not legally binding." I don't not many drivers with that kind of grasp of the niceties of law. He just thought "sod this, I ain't stopping".

(Even if temporary lights were advisory, could a policeman pull up such a driver for something like driving without due care, or something?)
