I got my iPhone in May having always had the kid's cast-off phones. I decided to treat myself and I must admit that I have very much enjoyed my new toy (except for Saturday mornings when Mr BP takes it to golf to use the golfshot app!)

Anyway I plugged it in to charge last night and this morning the battery has drained into the red battery graphic and I have a lightening bolt below that. The phone recognises being plugged in or not but won't re-charge. I tried it into my laptop and it isn't even recognised. Tried different sockets & cables to no avail. I rang Tesco Mobile helpline and they pronounced it broken!! I'm gutted. Tesco are sending a jiffy bag to send it back for repair.

I would have gone to an Apple shop but my nearest is Manchester or Sheffield (I hoped that there would be one in Leeds, but there isn't).

I don't think anyone can help, but I am proper p*ssed off this morning.

Look on it as an opportunity to upgrade to an Android phone :-)

Panic over, while I was out my youngest fixed it!! I knew teenagers had their uses. She "reset" the phone and then it was ok to take a charge, the question is, why couldn't the helpline at Tesco mobile suggest this fix??

Phew!

Repair???

Similar thing happened to my Ipod Touch, so I took it into the Apple Store in Southampton for advice.

Declared broken, apologised profusely that they had no stock to replace it with (this was during the airline / volcano problem) and promised me a call when they gt stock.

Two days later - new Ipod, no questions, no receipts, no hassle.....and I actually bought in in HMV!

Always contact apple directly if there is an issue with there products. Their customer service is second to none.

Apparently its a common problem with i phones, it happened to my sister's phone a couple of nights back. I got it working by following instructions on the web. Basically what I done is gave its terminals a light blow to make sure they were clear, plugged it in for 20-30 mins to the pc via usb. Downloaded the latest version of itunes. Then took the usb cable out and tried it another usb port and voila the red graphic changed to a white charging symbol and the phone works again  Its maybe what you youngster did ?
