Sounds like you bit off a bit more than you could chew at that point.

There is nothing that warms the heart, strengthens the legs and galvanises the resolve better than biting off a little more than you can chew, but still getting through it anyway. You may be better prepared next time, with better fueling, getting hydration right, and carefully studying the parcours before setting out. And you will finish without the cramps and look of desperation on your face.

On the other hand, your body will be so much better, so you could probably have done it successfully without all those changes.

You are so right, this weekend is going to be 60 mile with only 2,000 ft of baby climbs 😂

We all do that sometimes!

I cannot remember how many running races I have cooked it....
First marathon in Dublin.
Race to the sea in Bournemouth,
Leeds Liverpool canal race.

But if I stuck to 5/10k HM where would the fun be in that.

Generally it comes down to 3 things
1) Adequate training.
2) Adequate fueling
3) Not getting injured!
