My new Bianchi

I have finally succumbed to the power of Italian seduction and bought myself a Bianchi:

I have no idea what date it might be, can anyone advise please?

I'd guess approx. 2005/6 as it's got a Hollowtech BB
Quick Q, why the MTB pedals?

This colour/design was about 1998,similar to the Mercatone Uno pro team, but a budget model.
Most of the kit looks non original including the forks.
Looks in good nick, what grade of frame tubing and how much?

Ah! Never considered someone had retro fitted the BB to an older frame, should have as I've done it myself in the past, D'oh!

Marco Pantani won the 1998 Tour on the mega pro XL fame, 7000 alu heat treated double butted tubing with Time carbon forks.
Yours looks like one of the plain gauge alu models.

The tubing is 7000

& the pedals are al I have ATM, and I only have spd shoes.. & the 'original' pedals did not come with the bike. Would they have been celeste green LOOK pedals?

I had a model that sat between yours and top of the range,they all looked very similar. I raced on it 2000/1 i think and have been commuting on it for years since, only retired it last year,it still was riding lovely.
I look at it in the garage, as I think they do look classy.
I have to say more recent frames perform so much better' you don't have to spend top money as the tech and design has moved on loads in the the last few years. But as I said the Bianchi's always look classy and I am sure you will enjoy the ride.

& I am sure Festival is right about it being a mongrel.... The Crankset looks almost brand new, as does the Rear Mech. The front mech is Ultegra. The forks are Ambrosio, and the brakes are RSX.....

As noted above I'd change the pedals and apart from that its a beautiful frame. If you want to stay with spd's try touring pedals like the A520's, I use them on the training bike and think they look good
