So after much input from you guys on here and with the discount available I did indeed go for the Specialized Tarmac 2013 which was delivered last Monday.
Admittedly I'm still a bit "all the gear, no idea" but getting used to riding a bike with pretty much zero experience has been fun so far. Spent about 2 hours riding covering 20 miles over 4 rides in the last week so not groundbreaking, more breaking my bum into sitting on a saddle :-)
Need to improve my speed (average 11mph according to Strava) but that will all come in time.
I've also enjoyed buying new stuff to go with it with my biggest bargain from eBay, a specialized supersport computer with cadence for 99p! Rrp £40-£50 :-)
