Well, not a woman, but a Lady doggy.

Nuff said.

Got the symptoms of the first season!

Got bitch spray, knickers and 20 dogs howling round the area.

She seems like she can't be arsed at the moment but I am thinking 10ft fences!!!!!

Roll on 12 weeks when we can get her spayed. As norm, anyone's advice would be welcomed!

Only ever had male dogs, and the female cats were 'sorted' well before they came of an age.....

Try spraying neat Jeyes fluid around your fencec etc..it seems to deter the dogs a little, maybe it helps to mask the scent?

Give her a good stern talking too - she's far to young for things like that, and remind her she's not a chav!

Eucalyptus Oil down her back legs when you take her out will mask the 'smell', and is probably more effective than the bitch spray.
She wont be interested, and certainly wont let anything happen until around 9 - 12 days in. You'll then notice a straw coloured discharge start to appear, and then anything goes, she'll be a different dog then - it's only for four days though!
Don't let her out of your sight for more than one minute - 6ft fences are nothing to a determined dog!

We got our dog spayed before she came into season. Why won't your vet do it? It's now generally considered ok now to spay before (although they still have to be of a certain age). however, i think if she's about to come into season you will have to wait anyway now.

you better mind your dog don't learn to use a pc or it might get you back ... and you might find a thread on here telling everyone when you are ovulating and that you're gagging for it, or that your dog has bought your sanitory towels LOL

When I was about 8 years old, my big sister arrived home with a female puppy which someone at school had given her. My parents were a bit annoyed but they let her keep it, though they were a bit slow booking a visit to the vet...

A year or so later I was playing in the back garden when I heard about 53 dogs yelping loudly out in the back entry and there was the sound of frantic scratching on the garden gate. Next thing, I saw a pair of paws hooked over the top of the 7 foot high fence and a dog with a crazed look on its face hauled himself to the top and flung himself into the garden. He seemed intent on playing some strange sniffing and cuddling game with our dog (I was very young at the time and didn't understand such matters ). I ran into the house to tell my parents and they seemed a bit upset about this...

My dad filled a large bucket with water, ran out into the garden and flung it over the two dogs. He obviously thought that the other dog needed a wash and might make our dog dirty. Funnily enough, the other dog didn't find this at all distracting and he carried on playing but then he kind of got bored and wandered off to the back gate...

My dad shoved the dog out the gate, and had to fight off the other 52 dogs who also wanted to come in to play...

Anyway, a couple of months later I was asleep when I was awakened by a blood-curdling noise. It sounded like The Hound of the Baskervilles but I couldn't tell where it was coming from. I started crying and ran into my parents' bedrom and told them that there was a monster in the house. They let me stay in their room that night...

When I woke up the next morning, my mum asked me if I wanted to see the 'monster'. I was scared but she led me back into my bedroom and told me to look under the bed. There was our dog Judy with three tiny puppies. My dad must have gone down to the pet shop and bought us some new dogs while I was asleep!

Vets generally won't do it because it's already a high risk op and it makes it even risker if the female parts are 'engourged' - ie they are about to come into season. That's also why they like to wait 10 weeks after so the risk of haemorraging is lower. As she's a rescue dog, we don't know if she'd already had a season but judging by her age, this is the first.

Thanks for the advice ref the 9 - 12 days, I didn't realise that. Time to brush up my knowledge I think.
