I think he is referring to a two year child who can normally be relied on to wake him at ungodly hours of the morning. Everyone else then seems to have gone off at various tangents.
However, I'm not sure that in the long term that it's such a good idea to punish the child (witholding chocolate) for starting to conform to normal sleeping patterns, in cases such as this it's generally better to encourage conformity.
It wasn't quite normal sleep patterns. He tends to wake up around 6 and jump in bed with us for a while. He woke up at about 5 this morning but then slept for ages in our bed.
