My umpteenth bottom bracket thread

Can someone confirm (or refute) that Shimano BB-5500 Octalink BBs are always Octalink v1 as opposed to v2?

I want to put one of my unused 5502 chainsets on my friend's bike which has a BB-5500 bottom bracket that I installed when it was my bike. The Shimano docs imply that all 5502 chainsets go with all 5500 BBs but they make no mention of v1 and v2 which is why I want to check.
