Oh I've gone and done it, a n+1.
a warning...do not go and visit a friend who is leaving soon for a RTW cycling trip.
Cash is none existent but I have somehow managed to now own another bike. A Salsa Casseroll. She's a lovely bike, I plan to go take her on light tours, holidays etc. Partner thinks I am nuts and doesn't see the appeal- but she rides like a dream!!

Any ideas how to put a front rack on this bike as she doesn't have lugs/brasers for traditional front racks

Nice looking bike (just googled it). Well done on your acquisition. We hope to be joining you in the new bike department by the first weekend of September.

Can't help with the carrier fastenings though.
Congratulations.

Saluki, hope you get a lovely bike too! Exciting isn't it?

Pots...hah yes, it'll be way too small for you to get a lift in the basket, more your style than mine Miss Marple

Well, I say light touring but probably want a bit more carrying capacity, so I can take more and pay for for less things on the road.

Thanks for the link, I shall check it out once I'm back as off for a ride and a cake party!

Looking at the one I googled (on the salsa website), they describe a custom lightweight front rack which seems to be attached at the brake bosses and at the fork crown. I guess you could bodge a non-custom rack on with P clips on the fork blades, and a bolt and some sort of bracket at the fork crown - depends on the fixings the rack has....

P clips are the answer to most things, along with cable ties, gaffer tape, and hitting it with a hammer.

Yeah it's the older one thats gold coloured.
No I haven't got the bike for free, she's knocked a third off what she spent on it and I'll pay for the bike over the next five years. She wanted the bike to go to someone she knew and who would really appreciate it.

At some point I'll look into the rack but no desperate urgency right now

Nice. That looks like it could do some fun touring.

The freedom of cycle touring means you can head out any weekend and you can be on holiday from the moment you leave work. We camp about half the summer weekends, but our first trip this year was January.
