N+1 with conditions attached

started this year with C2W bike via halfords, Boardman Road Race. 2000 miles later decided I want to upgrade for next year now I know im serious re cycling.

limitations I have this year are
-Must be sourced from halfords, by halfords or bike store that take halfords cycle2work vouchers
- Preferably Central Scotland (coast to coast) so I can pay a visit and try the bike for size
- Budget max £1000

have pedals, garmin, helmet etc, so no need for accessories.

I've got a friend who's got a Cube Peleton. It's a great bike for the price. I think you'd struggle to get a 'better' bike for that amount of cash.

I'm not sure you'd feel a massive difference over your Boardman though tbh, in terms of it being an upgrade. There's about a kilo difference in it weight wise although I appreciate the specs better on the cube. Would it be worth you upgrading the bits on the boardman? I know you can't do that on the ctw scheme, or if the it's the N+1 thing buy something a bit different - a fixed or a mountain bike?

I like the Cube, it ticks all the boxes.

Is a nice Carbon bike but like all in this range for the carbon you have to drop component quality on rims and the likes
