Hi All!
I've been lurking for ages but thought it was about time I said hello!
I used to go everywhere on my bike as a kid but haven't been on one for 15 years, that is, until recently. I currently live in Essex and a change of job to central London rekindled the cyclist in me, I got a second hand Brompton to take on the train and cycle from Fenchurch Street to Farringdon (in my suit) each day which made me realise how much I loved getting around on the bike -avoiding the packed tube was a bonus.
I started taking it out on longer rides on the weekend (gradually getting up to 16 miles) and then yesterday I bit the bullet and got myself a "proper" bike, well it's a Giant TCX 2 which may or may not be very good in the eyes on some people but I love it none the less
I still love it after spending all afternoon fixing SKS Chromoplastics (what a nightmare!), a rack and panniers so that really is saying something! I cut 20 minutes off my 16 mile route on the first go yesterday (1hr20, previous best on the Brompton was 1h40).
Soon I'll be moving closer to London so I will be able commute the 6 miles each way on the TCX (hence the panniers etc) and the Brompton may well get sold on or passed to my girlfriend if she ends up with a multi-modal commute but I will always remember it for getting me back into cycling, loving every minute of it
Rob
