Wow, what a windy/rainy day, left for work at the usual ungodly hour, by the end of the road I was having second thoughts, but decided to plod along and just have an easy ride in.

Anyway I going up Sidcup Hill and was just over 2 thirds of the way up, when suddenly an extremely strong came out nowhere came, took my breath away and it brought me to a complete stop.

At this point I thought it was going to blown backwards or fall over, another clipless moment, but thanks to the youth in me and the bunny hope method I managed to stay up and continued on.

Did anyone else have a similar experience?

What time was it.
Cycled from Orpington to Greenwich via Bromley this morning, and yes there was quite a strong headwind

A gust like that is even worse when it gets you from the side IMHO. I had it happen to me a long time ago in heavy traffic. Not nice at all.

I had an experience in Walthamstow tonight of nearly losing my balance when coming to a stand because some comedian car driver drove up to a red traffic light like Bodie and Doyle.I didn't think he was going to stop and juts because it's red doesn't mean it's going to protect me.

Ooops my posting was slightly off topic there.Sorry guys and gals.

YES, mind those crosswinds! I had a scary incident in a crosswind, when a bus passed me on the windward side. I guess I had been compensating for the wind, and as the bus passed, the wind was suddenly blocked, and I felt as if I was being pulled into the side of the bus! When riding with a strong crosswind, I now keep a close watch on the mirror, so that I'm ready for vehicles like buses or tractor-trailers to block that wind as they pass.
