Nearly killed today

Cycling along over an hour ago with my hi vis and lights on. Some chavmobile passes me at 60+ mph with literally mm's from my handlebars. Then they slammed on their anchors just up the road for a speed camera. Tw*ts

I am ok now, but I was shaking like a leaf for at least a mile after the incident. Was watching every single car after that in my mirrors. Totally knocked my confidence for that ride home.

It was on a dual carrageway and I seen the headlights in my mirrors and expected them to give me room. Before anyone says about relying on mirrors, I don't but I can't check back all the time due to a neck injury.

Also even if I seen him early I would have had no room anyway.

I was shaking myself after the landrover incident so I know what it's like...it was that close.

Strange you should say that. I was nearly killed by a squirrel once.

Squirrels have a 'mode of defence' whereby they break off a twig and throw it at predators. Then run off.

I was cycling along when a small twig hit the front of my helmet. It shocked the shoot out of me so much, I almost wobbled into the ditch. I made an emergency stop before my front wheel went into the water. I looked round and saw a squirrel 'legging it' up the overhanging tree.

It was a damned good job I was wearing my helmet, otherwise I'd have been knocked unconscious.

I'd be pretty sure the Chav would have close-passed him no matter what evasive action he could have taken. Dicks like that do it on purpose.

This, of course is total crap. A twig handleable by a squirrel would not possess sufficient kinetic energy to knock out a 175lb human being if it struck his head at 20 mph.

(It has been proven that the 'penny off the Empire State building' would only kill you if you looked up and it hit your eye 'edge on'.)

On the other hand, the door mirror of a Ford Transit van hitting the rear of an unprotected human skull would indeed inflict injury to sustain unconsciousness, and/or brain damage.
