Hi all,

I'm trying to decide on a new bike, and would appreciate any advice on the pro's and cons of these bikes. It would mainly be for regular short journeys (2-3 miles) to the gym, town etc, with the occasional cycle paths and longer journeys.

- Carrera crossfire 2
- Giant alight 3
- Saracen ESC ladies

I'm particularly interested in thoughts about the Saracen as I can't find much on google about this (it would also be more convenient for afterservice as from local bike shop). Does anyone have any opinions on the pro's/cons of these bikes?

Thank you in anticipation:-)

I'd forget the crossfire, suspension on a bike for road going is a waste of energy, on a budget bike will be heavy and poor quality too

The other two look good. Ask your local shop to let you take a spin on the Saracen, if they refuse, I'd be tempted to take my custom elsewhere

I've seen the Alight, looked a really nice bike and sounds perfect for your needs. Again, try to get a test ride, Giants are sold all over (they have quite a few branded shops around the country)

If leaving anywhere like a gym or town centre, budget for a good strong d lock and a secondary cable to protect your new shiny bike

go for a test ride on them and find the most comfortably for you . being near the lbs is a bonus like you say for after sales .

Giant have a good record for making half way decent female specific bikes, so I'd start trting to get a wee test ride on a Alight 3 Womens, or at least I would if I were female.
