I think touring bikes are sturdier, have relaxed geometry, thicker tyres, all the points for fixing mudguards, quite often made of steel for comfort...but don't quote me

If you think Genesis look ace, then that's the one for you (I won't disagree as long as you avoid black )

The advantage of touring is that no need to pay extra for the mudguard and rack

But you DO pay for them.

Yes it's a steel / carbon fork road bike but you can add a rack (using p clips) and proper mudguards...I have last year's 20 model (same frame) with 25mm tyres

Ta, that's a bespoke spec, I bought all the bits, a friend built it...so the only thing it shares with the stock 20 is the frame and the headset, everything else is different. It now has better wheels again too

So would the genesis road bike won't be that good on cycle paths

How rough are the paths? Mine is fine on tarmac bike paths, in parks etc

The steel is fantastic on rough roads. How much time is that 5% on paths vs 95% on roads? The cx will be slower on the roads, but also comfy due to the fatter tyres

Went to lbs and evens to go for test ride on a genesis but they were too busy ...

You need to decide whether you want Steel or Aluminium first, then you can make a more informed choice.

Personally I love the Genesis bikes because they use Reynolds frames.
