Yes the time has come, I have finally saved up enough readies from my job to be able to afford a half decent bike for once.
I have been thinking about a new bike for a long time and decided that I wanted something better suited for commuting. I had the narrowed the choice down to between the EBC Cross or Country Traveller and in the end I went for the tourer, simply because I won't have to go around sourcing all the accessories like m'guards or a pannier rack and it is better suited to long days in the saddle.
When it arrives I intend to use it as all-year all-rounder for most general day to day tasks; commuting, shopping and going to college. I also hope to build up my mileage and do a spot of cycle touring this summer, there is a route I want to take that is 100 miles and a campsite which I frequent is at the other end. I have thus decided that doing that route in a day is m target for this year
Really excited now as it will be my first new bike ever since I bought a BSO in 2008 that subsequently fell apart after a year or so. Next week when it arrives I will get it properly built and checked over by the LBS. I will also invest in a new d-lock and panniers and start seriously thinking about insurance!
