New Bike process underway

After convincing Mrs SD that I absolutely, desperately needed a new commuting machine, and as work were coincidentally, at the precise same time  , running a Cycle to Work window I've taken the plunge and have a letter of collection (LoC) for £1000 heading my way! The aim is to buy a shiney new Boardman Hybrid Pro. I've even sounded out all the Halfords near me and found one with someone that is remotely interested in bikes.

LoC should be here on the 08/08 - which will be great as I have that week off to get it all setup.

Can't wait. Will be one hell of an upgrade from my heavy Claud Butler Explorer 400 with front susp.

Watch this space!!

The difference between the two bikes will be huge!

Enjoy

I intend to. Have just bought some Ritchey bar ends for it (why are they not on already?!?!) - looking around for bar plugs now.

Might even invest in some new clipless pedals - can't have scuffed ones on the new machine

how much do you think you will save over the 12 or 18 months? It used to be a killing but isnt the final payment now 25% of the bike price bringing it almost into line with some of the sales bargains knocking around.

My Tricross in 2008 was £800 but i eventually paid approx £450 on the Cycle to work scheme, that was in the good days.

If you sign up to the Halfords mailing list and answer a few short questions you can get another 10% off online price then collect in shop, you just need to print out the discount voucher and take it with you.

If you already have the application in you still need to spend the same to use your LOC but you can make up the difference on extras.

I have just got a comp for £800 , it now works out at about £550 for me.

Sd, I've also got the the same butler and its fine for my commute. I just got a Synapse on the cycle scheme but purely for pleasure. Next year I will look for another commuter to replace the butler cos you are right it is heavy but has served me well.
