Took delivery of my new Giant Defy one, unpacked to a a quick look before work. Love the colour and the bike is flawless, or so it seemed. Day off today so looking forward to getting out on it only to notice that the wrong size has been sent. I ordered a M/L and the sticker on the frame is saying L. Peeved is not the word and the bike does feel too big. Feels like I am stretching to far to reach the handles bars, this may be partly due to this being my first road bike and me not being used to the difference.

Tried ringing Rutland Cycling but the phone never gets answered and now my planned weekend of riding is shot to pieces. Some body give me some hope that Rutland will sort this out ASAP with minimal fuss and expense.

What size does the order sheet in the box say and your confirmation email? I'd email their customer services team and also keep trying the phone.
Assuming they have the right size in stock for you, I doubt anything will be sent before Monday and they may want the other collected first. Assume you are nowhere near their shops

You don't want a too big bike, quick route to injury in my experience

Of course they will sort it, they have sent you the wrong item and you can prove it. Just not be tempted to make do and use it.

Hope they sort it out as a priority for you.Perhaps knowing a few thousand cyclechatters are watching the thread with interest may spur them on.

As Vicster says dont be tempted to say it will do. A wrong size bike will never be any good . Sure you can change the stem etc but you will be stuck with a bike that is never exactly right.

Panic stations over got through on the phone eventually, very helpful chap. They are going to arrange collection on Monday, unfortunately they will not send the replacement until they have received the wrong one. Thankfully I did not take it out and the wheels have only touched carpet so the bike is still pristine. Never mind the weather may be better next weekend.

I always panic about stuff like this too. I get anxious worrying that they won't sort if out and then that disappears the instant I get it resolved. Always try not to stress, but can't help it. Complex things we all are!

Glad you resolved it, just a shame that weekend won't go as planned. The Defy 1 is well worth the wait though.

I panic over very little. getting better at coping and riding takes all the rubbish life throws at me away. Still love my Giant Revel so the weekend is not a dead loss.

Frustrating as it is it is far better to wait a few days and get the correct size as ordered. The bike will last for years and one lost weekend won't even figure in your memory during that time.

Old one picked up Monday morning, new one now coming this coming Monday after I was originally told it would be here today (Sat). I told them I would be in work and they still sent it out for a Monday delivery, if out they will try Tuesday (still in work) and then send it back to Rutland Cycling at which point I will be asking for a full refund and buying local. It may cost more but the time I have had to spend on this is lost.
