I'm thinking of buying a new road bike, as I'm having a fair few problems with my current bike. Budget £800. Any recommendations?

Halfords brand carerra vanquish. Had it for 1 1/2 years but wasn't brand new when I bought it. Done me great though, however, I use it for work and long leisure rides so has taken its toll. Want to keep it for commuting to work and have a leisure bike in addition. Last week my left gear shifter knackered and last night my front brake cable snapped as I was going downhill, which was pretty frightening!

Giant defy 2 is certainly worth a look and should take a rack and guards for commuting. If you don't already have one, budget around £70 for a gold level d lock for an £800 bike

Try looking at last years models, you maybe lucky and find they have your size still.
That way you get a better equipped bike for the money or a bike normally out of your price range:thumbsup: .

Yeah, I think when you have a problem you have to go in store, search the problem in a catalogue, write it on a form with a free pencil (always handy), go to the till, wait in line, put your bike on a conveyor belt, and watch it dissappear. Then wait a long time, and see if the same bike comes back into the store on the conveyor. Then ride off to find more problems and many more catalogue codes to go through:laugh:
