New bike

It's time.

I need (mostly want) a new bike. I have no idea how to go about making sure I get a decent one. Has anyone got any tips please? Or brand names?

Budget: I reckon about £200-£300.

To get good bike, rather than a BSO (bike shaped object) I would suggest spending at least £300, it will be worth it when you ride it...

You should be able to get a *basic* decent hybrid-type steed for your budget if you shop around
