I got a cheap road bike a few months ago (£10) for my commute which varies between 20-30 miles round trip depending on which roads I take. I didn't like the colour so I took it to a local powder coater (£30-35) to sort.
In the 2 weeks it has been wating for its new finish I have been using my mountain bike to get to work but I've been avoiding the roads as often as possible which has opened up so much country side. Sussex is full of public footpaths which wind through farm and forest. So far I have approached 2 farmers to make sure it's ok to ride on and they're cool with it.
Anyway I managed to do 15 miles the other day and only a couple of miles was on the road. Its brilliant. Very muddy but talk about fun. I arrived CAKED in mud the other day but sporting a huge grin which lasted all day.
Anyone else managed to find some sneaky mud tracks to commute on?
