Hi, I've just put some new headset (cartridge) bearings in my single speed. I took the old ones out and the new ones looked identical and the measurements were the same. However, I now have a slightly larger gap than I had before and I wondering if this is normal and/or okay?? The headset spins very well, there is no movement whatsoever and no noise but to me, it just doesn't look right!! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I would first check the depth of the bearings - it looks like you have replaced 6mm bearings with 8mm bearings or something like that.

It is not unsafe - but it does leave the headtube a bit more exposed to the elements getting in.
