Today yes Saturday i was required to go to our hearing aid dept at the health centre.I was not the only old fart there either. It looks like they are phasing out battery operated hearing aids, every bloke because it was only blokes, came out with a aid recharging station.Anyway mine are danalogic Extend aids, sadly not bluetooth compatible with my phone. The beautiful young lady and i had a talk,as i had been doing some research,in to what aids they hand out,and one of them a PHONAX fits my bluetooth on my phone, she said she would ask her boss if i could be supplied with those instead, but these are so much better than the Oticon ones issued before.I suppose it is a matter of cost. But i did tell her i was in to my music and it gave me a great deal of pleasure.Anyway so now i wait,if not i will buy some headphones instead.

I have Phonak rechargeables, and the bluetooth to the phone or computer is excellent.

i hope the young lass will ask her boss about changing, but i have found some wireless headphones at PC World,i will get them in Feb for my birthday,i have kept my old bluetooth aids and i have batteries for at least nine months everyday wear,so they should last much longer only playing music.

Some of you may already be aware but I’ll mention here something that I only found out yesterday: hearing aids and many accessories for them are exempt from VAT!

I was looking for a TV streamer so I can hear the telly at a volume independent of my wife’s preference for a lower volume and I can get it almost £30 cheaper by completing a declaration that it’s for my personal use and, as a hearing impaired person, my disability has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon ability to carry out everyday activities. That needs to be done at the time of ordering and it’ll drop the VAT off.

(They can also be VAT free if bought as a business expense.)

I’m going to get one of those remote microphones too, so I can hear better in class and in restaurants etc.

Here’s the relevant info detailed on the site I’ll be ordering from: https://www.crystalhearinguk.co.uk/vat-hearing-aids/

It’s the cheapest source I could find for what I want.
