New laptop - suggestions?

My 6 y.o laptop is dying so would like to invest in a new one.

Spend up to £400

Don't need it to play games.

15-17" screen is fine.

I guess that at the price most are fine, but is there any good deals out there or VFM ones?

Not a Mac person myself, you understand, but I know a man who is.

I usually look on PC world site first to see what there is, then google cheaper prices for the one I'm interested in.

Thanks. With my limited knowledge they look good (Fit 15E). Unfortunately it doesn't have a DVD Re-writer (I should have stated this is one of things I would like it to have).

OH has just got some Asus thing - nicely made - with a 1TB hdd and 3GB ram for £299. No idea of the processor but it seems fast enough for what it is. It's gone up to £399 now - so bargains do appear if you're not in a mad rush.

The L word is going in the aforementioned Asus thing when I have time. Windows 8 doesn't play as nicely as other versions for dual boot though I understand.
