Some of you have prob seen this already, its taken me ages to get around to downloading it off me phone. anyway, islington, i think its them, have started adding these everywhere. great as they are easily clamped onto any post and creates more safe parking for us.

Also saw this the other day which will make some of you laugh. Hope none of us end up with a bike looking like this:

What are the fasteners holding the two halves of the post clamp together? Unless they're some kind of high security fixing, couldn't the two halves just be unbolted from the post and our bike walked away with?

I thought the same thing too but good in principle and it would mean your bike didn't fall over as easily as it would just leant against the post.

i dont think it could be undone easily, it looked pretty solid, and if the lock/chain stilll went aroun the post, that would still add anotet degree of security - apart from lifting it all the way up and over. very handy idea though, utilises what is already in place.

not sure what happend to the cylcist, i dint see anything floating nearby, not even Dirty Den

We were crossing the Avon aqueduct a few years ago and my mate lowered his bike into the canal by the back wheel to try and see how deep it was! I couldn't believe it. I said to him, 'if that had slipped out of your hand, how would you have got it out?'. It was obviously about ten-foot deep.

Um...how difficult was it to lock your bike to the original post?

well it wasn't as i bring it inside after things got nicked off it. however, they do have a tendancy to slip/be pushed over and they end up on the floor. plus nasty bad people can lift them up and over. at least the little notice is saying about looping you rlock around the D links and the front 'n' back wheels etc.
