Like we post pictures of our bikes on here I thought I'd post one of these new shoes - they are a bit white from the front but I've really taken to them
Just got them and really looking forward to trying them out on the bike. As I take a size 48 not only do some brands not make them, many shops don't stock them but those that do can make them too wide - they assume having a long foot means having a wide one.
Then if you get them ordered in to a shop...that's if you can as they don't want to be burdened with stock they can't sell if they don't fit properly...it could be a frustrating process of trying different models / brands. So with these factors and having challenges buying from an young age I am quite the pessimist about it.
After a couple of phone calls asking about which brands may come up smaller, which size I would need and which would suit my foot I went into London to try these on at a Specialized concept store. I am well chuffed - with my current Northwave I bought a bit too big and use the velcro at it's limit - the boa mechanism works very well so it all feels snug. There's also a no quibble warranty on the boa mechanism and steel lace, which helped me feel good about an unknown. The heel shape works very well too - it cups my heel much more than ever before. I just wish the blue was a deep shiny red and they would match my bike perfectly!
If you have a long but normal width foot I can heartily recommend trying them.
