Hi all,

Just wanted to say hi, actually been a member on here since last year when i bought the bike, but haven't got round to doing this!

My bike is a bit of a retro modern, it's a 90's Raleigh Elan, with alot of the orginal features, Exage Drivetrain, handle bars etc, but i've also with some modern touches. It had only done a handful of miles since new before being rebuilt so is pretty tidy.

Basic spec is light blue power coated Reynolds frame (believe 501)
Pro-Lite Coma wheels, tyres changed since pic now on Conti GP4000s' (all black)
Brooks B17 narrow seat with matching brooks bar tape
Jagwire inner/outer cables and brake pads
Exage drivetrain with Tiagra rear derailier and bio-space crank
And some other bits i can't remember!

It's my first proper bike and love it, no intention of upgrading it anytime soon, done around 600 miles on it now so really starting to get comfortable with it. Though i've a few upgrades in mind :-)

Cheers all, Ernie nope i didnt build it, i've done the seat, bar tape, computer, the new tyres and alot of cleaning! Though thankfully the guy that did build it seems to have done a very thorough job!

Very nice machine. Nice to see the older bikes still being used and loved. Just a question, my Dawes has the biopace chainset too and I was wondering if you found it an advantage ?

Sidevalve unfortunately i couldnt give you any real idea, this is the first and only road bike i've ever had, i didnt have a proper bike for years before this, so really don't have anything to compare it to, other than my BMX! Though the principle seems sound to me and it definately feels smooth over the whole rotation of the crank. But i guess if there was a significant advantage everyone would be doing it!
