I'm looking to blow about two hundred quid on some road wheels next week. I am looking for something light for the price and one that rolls well and looks great. The ones I've narrowed down to, and would love any testimonials or opinions on, are:

Campagnolo Scirocco 35mms http://www.wiggle.co.uk/campagnolo-scirocco-35-clincher-wheelset/

Shimano Ultegras http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-sh...ls/shimano-ultegra-6700-wheels-grey-pair.html

Fulcrum Racing 5s, probably the CX ones http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-sh...wheels/fulcrum-racing-5-cx-clincher-2013.html

and Shimano RS61s http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-sh...ory-road-wheels/shimano-rs61-wheels-pair.html

I also liked the look of the Supra RA30s on Merlin's website although saw some reviews that suggested they might not be that hardy?

Cheers

I've put a couple of thousand miles through some Fulcrum 5's. They've never given me any problems*, they're still perfectly true and roll incredibly well. I'm 15stone+ and use the wheels for commuting, on what are laughably called "roads" round here

The only caveat I'd have with the Fulcrums - as with many other factory wheels is the spokes can be a bit of a swine to get hold of if you do manage to break one (previous experience with fulcrum 7).

* not exactly true. The original rear wheel hub cracked completely after a couple of hundred miles. The entire wheel was replaced under warranty as the fault was described as a manufacturing defect.

I currently run the Fulcrum 5's and haven't had any issues with them. Good solid wheelset.

I'm currently in the market for a set of Carbon Clinchers, but going to keep the Fulcrum's as winter wheels.

For all year round riding, would you recommend the Racing 5 CX over the standard 5/s? Weight and spoke type seem to be identical.

Got 8000 miles out of r5s and Im 15st at my lightest , only difference I could find between standard r5s and cx version was the cartridge bearing being doubled sealed on cx version which I put in my standard r5s when the bearings needed changed( about £3 per bearing).

So IMO just buy which ever is cheapest at the time of purchase .

very nice but £100 over budget!
The 2010 equipe version is cheaper only £175.

Do the CX rear wheels make that nice/annoying (delete as applicable) clicking sound?
