Saw this advertised in my local Morrisons on the local ads board and thought it was worth a punt.

Carrera Valour with Tiagra 8 speed STi shifters and rear mech

Also a nice Bikehut (Velo) Carbon Race Ti railed saddle

Plain guage 7005 with Cr-Mo forks with mudguard eyes and rack mounts.

The guy hurt his back before he could ride it

£160, which I thought was pretty good.

I already have a summer and winter bike, so thought about kitting it out as a tourer. The frame and 36 spoke wheels look tough enough.

That 8 speed transmission won't eat chains & cassettes like 9 & 10 speed too - looks like a good buy.

My commuting and bad-weather audax bike is a Carrera Vanquish, which I bought for exactly the same price as your bike, bought it from a guy who had ridden it for just 20 miles and found it hurt his back!

I've now done just over 3,000 miles on it. With generous clearances for decent tyres and mudguards and rack mounting eyes, I'm sure it would make a reasonable on-road light tourer, and I suspect yours would, too!

Nearly there:

Stem flipped

Pedals fitted (decided to go for bog standard m520 as better for touring then the SL type that I have on my other road bike)

Crud Racer Mk2 fitted (originally bought for my other bike but decided to fit to this one which ironically has mudguard eyes)

Just the computer to fit.
