Newbie from Manchester - Currently rainy!

I pick up my new bike on Friday, with a view to using it to commute to work on rather than driving. Must admit I'm a bit nervous, especially regarding the whole traffic situation, but determined to get back on two wheels and start the day with a blast.

I'm in Stockport (south Manchester) and commuting about three miles each way. I'm currently running it in but fancy getting there just a bit quicker!

Welcome to the website, don't worry about the traffic, just enjoy cycling to work, and soon you will be cycling the longer way to work and back home

Stockport is not too bad,when we get some good weather we do a few rides out from the station towards Jodrell Bank,keep an eye out on the forum rides as they are a good way to meet other riders and aim towards a large cake stop at the half way mark....or if Potsy in on the ride we have to do it in 1/4's !

Hehe sounds all good I've bought my bike off eBay (in the pic) now having fun looking at locks lights etc. Would love to do some rides out, I did my advanced bike test round the Jodrell Bank area. Very technical roads and lovely countryside!

Good luck!!! My folks live in Manchester (Glossop side) and we make a joke that me and my wife haven't visited without it raining...been 12 years now and still haven't managed a rain free day!!!

Glossop is also very nice - I wouldn't fancy those hills cycling though! And as for the rain, now I've bought a bike I imagine it will rain forever more lol
